Quadrant Shopping Centre is one of 140 centres across the UK taking part in ‘One Great Day’ on Friday 29 June.
One Great Day is a series of family and community charity events being held throughout the month of June to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, and other locally based children’s health charities.
Participating shopping centres will provide a special event or family fun day for local communities across the UK, whilst raising money for a number of great causes.
As well as Great Ormond Street Hospital, Quadrant Shopping Centre will also be fundraising for Swansea-based Kids Cancer Charity, which provides care and support to families, children and teenagers affected by cancer. It offers initiatives such as its holiday programme which gives those in its care the chance to enjoy their dream holiday. Whether it’s a luxury caravan in Wales or Disney World in Florida, they will be able to create some fantastic lasting memories with family and friends.
Throughout the day, the centre will be hosting a day of family fun, full of activities for everyone to enjoy, including a vintage pop-up tea shop where visitors will be able to enjoy a delicious selection of homebaked cakes and hot beverages all served up by waitresses dressed in 1950s tearoom outfits.
There will also be the opportunity to win £2000 worth of top prizes at a charity raffle as well as taking part in The Giving Tree where customers can take a tag from the tree to purchase a gift or experience for a child currently receiving care from Kids Cancer Charity, and much, much more.
Lisa Hartley, centre manager of Quadrant Shopping Centre, said: “One Great Day is a highlight in our calendar, and it’s a great start to the summer. Hosting an event like this is a really fun way to give something back to support the wonderful work of Kids Cancer Charity and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity which supports patients and families from across the UK.”
“One Great Day is an event that has fantastic energy and brings our community together while raising money for charity. Families in the area get to enjoy a fun day out – and its all for a good cause!”
Commenting on the event, Helen Johns, volunteer for Kids Cancer Charity, said: “One Great Day means so much to the organisation. It enables us to be more visible in the local community and to interact with the public, raising the profile of the charity.
“The money raised will help us to continue to support children affected by cancer over the coming weeks and months via our much needed services.”
Michal Noe, Trustee of One Great Day, said: “We are thrilled to have Quadrant Shopping Centre as one of 140 shopping centres taking part this year, helping so many children’s health charities across the country.”
One Great Day was established in 2014 and has so far raised over £400,000 for 93 different children’s charities along with Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. One Great Day now covers over 50 million square feet of retail space across the United Kingdom, from Folkestone to Aberdeen and nearly everywhere in-between!
