More than 6,500 students descended on Quadrant Shopping Centre last night for its annual ‘Student Takeover’ event, which is hosted in partnership with the BID.
For one night only, the shopping showdown, which has become a firm favourite on the student social calendar in recent years, offers students one-off exclusive discounts, live music, special offers and more, all bringing undergraduates from across the region in their droves to the centre.
Lisa Hartley, Quadrant Shopping Centre manager, said: “The evening proved a huge success once again. We love welcoming the students back year after year, who thoroughly making the most, not only all the fantastic retailer offers but also the entertainment we put on.
“As the shopping hub of the city, we feel that it’s important to support our local student population and by organising an event such as this, they not only have access to some incredible retailer discounts, but also allows them to spend on a budget,” added Lisa. “Plus, with so much going on, it promises to be a really fun, yet cheap night out!”
Swansea BID Chief Executive, Russell Greenslade, said: “The ‘Student Takeover” event has always been one of the most popular city centre events we organise, and this year even more businesses and brands came forward with unique offers and discounts, of up to 30 percent, exclusively for students.
“Swansea is a great place to be if you are a student and events like these add to the attraction for the city’s student demographic. They also do a lot to support the city centre economy and local retailers, and to add to the vibrancy of the wider Swansea BID area.”
